Tapoja Chaudhuri, PhD

Research Associate

Dr. Tapoja Chaudhuri is an anthropologist and an educator, with over 15 years of experience of conducting  qualitative interviews, critical discourse analysis, and participant observation in the field of environmental sustainability and socio-economic development.

After receiving her MA and M.Phil. degrees in Sociology from the University of Delhi in India, Dr. Chaudhuri immigrated to the USA in 2003 to join the Ph.D. program in Environmental Anthropology at the University of Washington. In the last 15 years, she has taught in various educational institutions across the country, in as diverse places such as the University of Washington, City University of New York, and Haverford College. Currently, she is an instructor of anthropology at Seattle University. 

Dr. Chaudhuri is also a professional interpreter, with a certificate from the Bridging the Gap medical interpretation program in NYC, with a year-long experience of working as both in-person and online Bengali-to-English interpreter for a wide variety of clients. Additionally, Dr. Chaudhuri is a freelance writer for International Examiner, a community-based newsletter focusing on Asian diasporic living in Seattle.
